Nostalgia: a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for return to some past period or irrevocable condition

Nostalgia is a strange thing. I wonder why certain stimulants evoke this feeling. It's bittersweet: a twinge of happiness overcome by the sting of sadness by reality.
