135 Degrees

Last week an earth shattering study was presented by Dr. W. A. Bashir at the Radiological Society of North America meeting in Chicago showing that despite all that you have been told…sitting up straight is actually bad for your spine. The researchers were able to look at the impact on the spine in different positions using new imaging technology in order to confirm their findings.

Bashir and his researchers found that sitting with the back reclined at a 135 angle is the best biomechanical sitting position, rather than the typical 90 angle.

Not quite sure if this is that beneficial. It just puts me in an optimal position to fall asleep while I'm reading or studying.

Rape?

Darren, YiYing, and I run around the river at midnight. He said when we all run together, YiYing and I lag behind. If each go with him individually, we have to keep up or else he'd leave us behind and we'd get raped. We run faster out of fear. =(

BASKETBALL

I played basketball today. I was very scared of getting hit. So many people got hurt today.

Yiying and I kept running away from the ball. I asked Matt how I can play better. He said to keep practicing. I just want to play well now.

I should jog tomorrow.

PLAY

I have lots to do

but...

I just want to go play!

Vincent Xu and water lilies

"What wet the lilies, rain or dew?
What taste of wind was passing through?
And while I'm lost to feel the outer,
How more so, inner weather!"

Auggie's Words of Wisdom

(as retold by Tootie)

Three main things guys look for:

Attractiveness

Personality

Availability

If you're laking in one, you can make it up in another category.

-------
Disclaimer: Auggie wanted to add that he was drunk and minutes from puking when he gave this advice.

Stuff

Where is the gigantic Rainbow store?

I was called "M'am" today.

I want to buy gladiator shoes.

Barack Obama

Barack Obama is the first African-American to head the ticket of a major political party.

My closest cousin-in-law's younger brother plays basketball with Barack Obama.

Maybe I'll get to meet the President of the USA someday?

Little Cousin

I have a little cousin. Well, he used to be little. Now he's much much bigger than me, but I still think of him as a little baby.

But he is so grown up, and it's funny.

I took him out to eat. We saw a girl.

I asked him, "Do you think she's..."
Before I finished, he replied automatically, "No, definitely not hot."

He told me also, "No guys is too hot for a girl, but there are girls who are too hot for guys. Guys are superficial and all but as long as you meet a standard. It's okay. Like, there's ugly and pretty. Either you're ugly or you're pretty."

It's funny. My little baby cousin is all grown up, and talking like a guy.

They grow up so fast!

To think, just a few months ago, he was writing his college admission essay. In it, trying to be creative, he wrote, "On the one arm...but on the other arm..." I guess it's okay to start substituting in random body parts...

Aww, I love my little baby (grown-up) cousin! =)

Thoughts

I didn't want this blog to turn melodramatic, but since I left my personal journal somewhere in my loads of stuff in Cambridge, I'll indulge in some melodrama.

I see many people around me moving on with their lives, and I feel that I'm still stuck here...wondering what the heck I'm going to do with mine.

"You live in your head." I hear this often. It is sad, but I guess, I have to have these illusions for me to look forward to the possibility of turning one into reality.

For the past 3 years, I lost a part of who I was...it's weird: I was going through the motions, waking up, going to class, going about my daily duties, then going to sleep, and repeating the whole cycle. Now, somehow, I regained myself again. It is as if something pulled me out of it. It's hard to describe, but I'm finally myself again.

This summer I need to FOCUS. I can't flutter around. FOCUS.

Just random thoughts.

Nostalgia

Nostalgia: a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for return to some past period or irrevocable condition

--------------
Nostalgia is a strange thing. I wonder why certain stimulants evoke this feeling. It's bittersweet: a twinge of happiness overcome by the sting of sadness by reality.

...yesterday, this made me have this "sentimental yearning" =D

Baby born with two faces revered as a Hindu Goddess. Lali is said to have a birth malformation called cranial duplication.

I guess it´s kind of strange, but there are a lot strange things in science too. Scientists do some pretty bizarre things. Below is an attached picture of a fluorescently tagged zebrafish with what appears to be cranial duplication.

K-drama

Vincent Xu: It's 4:37 A.M. I'm gonna die because I just spent 8 hours watching a K Drama!!!!!! My life now has a perverse new sense of meaning.

Argentina

Mắt em sao chiếu long lanh

Mắt em lệ ướt long lanh
Ðêm mai không ai đưa về
Người ơi xin đừng hờn dỗi
Ðêm nay cô đơn đi về
Xin người hãy nhớ tình tôi
